The glass gallery, courses and links

"My bowl's are blown to my specification and design, by the studio glassblower Jane Charles. I use a palette of vibrant colours within the crystal and sandblast my unique designs into the surface of the glass. My designs are often drawn from nature especially the native flora and fauna of the Scottish Borders and Northumberland. I also find the sea, and all that's in it fascinating and default to drawing fish for pleasure."
The Workshop Gallery
The workshop gallery is a oasis of colour and form. This is the first place Julia shows her new designs and always stocks the widest choice of her work. With a permanent range of dazzling scent bottles, paperweights, glass jewellery, drinking glasses and candlesticks by fellow artists Jane Charles, Sanders and Wallace, and Connell and Hart, this has been described as a gem of a shop.We also have a changing exhibition of work by other local glass workers.
The place to come for original, British studio glass.

Laura Brittain's felt bags are a riotous explosion of colour, pattern and joy. Mark Haillay's gorgeous over the ceramic top table ware is vibrant in form and colour. Nichola Cheers' ceramic rockets and submarines are full of humour and detail. Nichola Theakston who's ceramic sculptures of animals are so sympathetic to the real thing they are a pleasure just to sit and stare at." Lindean Mill Glass. David's tableware is elegant and refined while Annica makes the most technically and aesthetically stunning pieces of sculpture. Rowan McOnegal, she produces leaded stained panels of such exquisite beauty and detail that I was literally dumbfounded at her work. Lucy Woodley is also into the sea in a big way and makes silver jewellery that I would cry with gratitude to receive.
These are just a few of my favourite artist makers, so watch this space as I add new discoveries to my wish list.
